997.2 Headlights - Damage or Dirt ?

Hi Folks,

So, I have achieved a life long ambition and become the owner of a new (to me) 911 !

The car is a 4 year old 997.2 2S with the spec I was looking for, and so far is proving to be a lot of fun.

My question for the assembled wisdom of PH is with regard to the headlamps - they have, what I can only describe as black spider web markings in places on both lenses.

To my eyes, the marks appear to be in the plastic lenses, but I'm told by the OPC that it's dirt and "they all do that sir".

So, it would be good to hear of other owners with something similar, and any experiences of removing them ?

Had this on 996. Its dirt and its hard to get at.

I created a cleaning stick with cotton wool pad on end and gained access through the holes that open up when changing bulbs. I lightly cleaned them from the inside but still couldnt get the angle to clean it 100%. Looked better though.

Also try a machine polish of the exterior lens just in case.
