Can any one tell me what is missing from the back of the door handle push button drivers side first picture. I want to lock the door from outside I have a key for the barrel but am missing the bit/bits behind that have to be held on with the nylock nut as in pic. pictures and any links to what to get gratefully received.Or can I easily make somethink,no sniggering in the back please.......

The spring, slotted washer, circlip and 'O'ring are missing along with the stud and nut in that unit should be a bolt with a complete rounded end (with the smallest of hex to allow you to put a spanner on) BUT the button keyway is worn away, IMHO it needs replacing anyway.
Again, IMHO get rid of the keys, find a plain button press, modify the lever unit on the drivers door (so that it can lock like the passenger side) and using an alarm with central locking, mount central lock solenoid to the inter-connecting rods horizontally, locking the car with a remote.

PS there is no connection between the door handle and the door mech (apart from when you press the button, which when pressed connectes to a lever/slide arm on the mech...what is odd is that the connector arm in your picture is a pressed steel affair and not a simple 1/2 bar drilled at either end (TVR lever handles are at a 'TVR' distance away from the mech).
Again, IMHO get rid of the keys, find a plain button press, modify the lever unit on the drivers door (so that it can lock like the passenger side) and using an alarm with central locking, mount central lock solenoid to the inter-connecting rods horizontally, locking the car with a remote.

Realistically, this car is going to need an alarm system for insurance (most come with central locking kits AND auto locking) and these are pennies (getting keys 2 keys cut is going to be more!!) and for emergency power you will need to put a feed to the battery with a plug on it (hidden in the wheel arch) that will allow you to trickle charge the battery and get the car open IF it looses power (almost all the cars are running accumate type systems these days anyway) the lever mod is removing a small rivet (which takes about 20 mins) adding the solenoids and setting up is the painful part (4 screws and some wiring with a little bit of bending of a connecting rod and DOUBLE rod clamps as you are horizontal instead of vertical), the alarm is following the instructions.
