Low oil - can I mix it?

Hi folks,

Just as I arrived at work today the oil light came on my 1997 Audi A4 1.8 Petrol.

Checked dipstick and dry as a bone. Oops. Currently got 10/30 oil in it, but couldn't get any from the shop. I've got the option of 5/30 or 10/40.

Can I top up with either of those, or will that spell doom for the motor??

running with next to no oil will spell much more doom!
Stick some in
