Track Experience Days
Discussion
I have recently been gifted a track experience voucher by a family member, and I was looking on any advice about which ones to take. I'm sure this is a situation that many PHers have been in, but having been on these days before, not all are created equal. Whilst the average member of the public has their mind blown by pootling around the track at 1500 RPM in 6th in a knackered old Lamborghini Diablo, I was looking at something a bit more exciting. I must admit that I did mine at Goodwood, where I drove a Formula Ford (limited to 5000 rpm despite capable of revving to over 10,000) which has strict noise abatement policies.
What I am essentially asking is, are there any tracks near the South East which have better than average driving experience days (high noise limits), and if you've been on one, what did you think about it?

I did the Lotus Exige one-to-one session at Thruxton and thoroughly enjoyed it. the instructor was keen for it to be a learning experience and was happy for be to red-line the car and really stretch it's legs.
If I were to do an experience day again, I'd do it again. Granted, it's only 2x7 laps. But was much more fun than a standard "super-car" experience day.

did the palmersport day paid for by a previous employer, it was utterly amazing, it is expensive though.
I have done the drift days with caterham which have been good.

I honestly think that, if you've done Palmersport, the only circuit options left are a day's tuition by a recommended instructor on a track day, or getting one of BookaTrack's Caterhams! Definitely look at things aimed at race drivers looking to improve, rather than normal drivers looking for a thrill.
Or, as mentioned above, do something totally different like drifting or offroading!

I did the exige at Thruxton for my 18th birthday and the Caterham drift day for my 21st. Both were good, and a good intro to RWD! The Exige was quite intimidating in the wet, but the Caterham drift day was epic fun. If you've never driven a RWD car sideways then you must do the Caterham day!
Done a few days with Driftlimits and theyve always been good fun..
Nice variety of cars.. just got an f430 challenge aswell! www.driftlimits.co.uk
