Looks like great fun. What was the grid size like? Did the merc win? They have been cleaning up all the major 24 hour races this year they have had a car in!

Yeah the Merc did win and the entry list was about 40-50 cars with quite a few British entries from the likes of Saxon up to Barwell running the Poole/Abra Aston Martin with Stefan Mucke and Bruno Senna. I'd say they were probably the favourites as in the first hour they just ran and hid until they got stranded on track after losing a wheel nut.

A charge back up the field was curtailed by a holed radiator and finally in the early morning Mucke got side swiped by a Porsche on the start finish straight which pretty much destroyed the car and sent Mucke off for a hospital check up.

56 cars started and the Brits enjoyed some success. Congrats to Intersport - top all UK car home. Little old MMC Motorsport got both its cars home with our BMW achieving class podium and our Seat troubling the top 15 until a wheel bearing/hub failed at 4am throwing down the order.

I've spoken to Aston Martin and Stefan Mucke is now at home recovering well (but the incident was slightly different to how described above).

It was a great event, well run and we were made to feel extremely welcome; and compared to other UK options, exceptionally good value for money. And with the plans to run a 12hr race in Zandvoort and a further 24Hour race in Italy next year (and create a 12/24hr championship), you do wonder about where some UK teams may now choose to spend their money.

Onwards to Dubai in January.

Car 42 is a team based in Dubai. They used to run a Clio Cup which finished 2nd in class in the 2010 Dubai 24hr race (I was part of the team).

Car 61 is BMW120d that has been modified somewhat (wider track, cup bumpers, huge rear diffuser) and won its class in the 2013 Dubai 24hr race (I was the team manager).

I was stuck in Oman with work otherwise I would have been at the event running the BMW 120d.

Dubai should see better weather.....
