Any good bars/pubs near Bank?
Discussion
Morning All,
Trying to plan a few a drinks this evening with some friends and something near bank would be mutually convenient.
Whilst I know Liverpool street towards Shoreditch reasonably well I don't really know if there is anything worth going to near bank tube station?
By good I mean anything a bit interesting, so old boozers, nice cocktail/wine bars etc equally welcome but nothing stupidly expensive i'm not Director.
Thanks

The Old Bank of England on Fleet St is the obvious place. Stunning interior (and great pies!). It's a Fullers pub, so beer is always well kept.

ETA oops - I thought I'd read Embankment, not Bank... sorry. Probably too far from Bank. Nice pub though!

I work next to Bank and our regular haunts are:
The Anthologist/The Gable (book for food as busy for drinks etc.) - trendy pubs/food
Planet of the Grapes on Bow Lane - good food and cheap wine (wine merchant plus corkage)
One other good shout is Enoteca Da Luca on basinghall st - bottled beer, good food and wide selection of wine
On the cheaper side I've always had decent food and a good pint at The Pavillion end, just off Bow Lane.

If you're after something a bit fruity and the weather is good, there's the top floor of the One New Change shopping centre (2 minutes east of Bank), access by elevator only, it's an outdoor terrace with amazing views of central London. Can't comment on the prices though.
Most certainly 'Director' prices!had ham said:
