Time to close TfL and buy everyone a bike?

I cant think of any time when Ive been traveling around a city that a bike wouldn't have been quicker.
I grew up in London (left at the age of 21) and got the bus to school. The 5 mile route require 3 busses and would take around 45 mins, provided you didn't miss one due to traffic or it just not turning up. During my GCSEs, I decided to cycle once, just for the sake of it. It allowed a much more straight forward route and took 15 mins. Why I never cycled the whole 6 years I was there, I'll never know. Maybe I wouldn't have been such a fat f

After I left school, I worked around 4 miles from home until I left. Fortunately, I had passed my driving test and no longer needed to use public transport. This 4 mile journey would take me approx 45 mins every morning and every evening, mostly sat in traffic. Again, why I never cycled the whole 3 years I was there, I'll never know. Maybe I wouldn't have been such a fat fk.
I can think of plenty of times as a youngster where a cycle in London would have been far cheaper and more effecting than waiting for a bus.
