EBC discs warping?!?!?!

Has anyone else had this problem with these discs?

I had a set of front and rear grooved and drilled discs and within 6 months of having them on the car they had warped! I've never taken the car on a track-day or anything, they've just had standard road usage and yet they've warped to the point of me having to remove them and put standard discs and pads on again.

Anyone else had this problem? I thought they were highly rated?

Also, Drilled and Grooved discs are 90% gimmick.

EBC brakes are complete , dangerous tat IMHO. Green stuff pads are the devils work & produce a stupid amount of brake dust with no appreciable bite or stopping power.

I irrevocably warped a set of EBCs most expensive discs within 10 minutes on the Nordschleife. Never again.

I used to work at a large 4x4 vehicle parts retailer, quite a few EBC discs came back warped within months, esp for disco 2 auto's. No problems with the cheaper non branded Chinese discs!

Happened twice to me in the Golf R32, that was their expensive versions too with yellow stuff pads

Brembo too. but as stated EBC are just dogst. If they are available for your car try Brembo discs and Pagid or Mintex 1144 Pads.

Swap 'em for AP discs

Use TRW discs for normal cars or Delphi. AP no longer make discs but AP racing which is a different company do a range which is top quality.

It must be twenty years ago when I fitted a set of EBC discs to the front of my Golf GTI. They didn't run true straight out of the box.

I find it odd that people have issues, I never have that said I have only used yellow stuff pads with stock disks mind, but a friend of mine has EBC disks and pads all round on an F150 pickup truck (400bhp supercharged) which weighs 2.5 tonnes. They are rather good to be honest, stops very well and they are not warped at all.

To be honest, a lot of the time warpping is caused by not running the discs in properly. When the discs are drilled this seems to be more important add in pads which are good in one area and not so in others and you can see it is easy to warp something.

Cheaper discs are cheaper as the metal mix is not as good, OE have a certain CArbon content others have a differing mix.I don't think EBC are any worse than others but they tend to be fitted to cars as a performance upgrade and get used heavily. I have seen to many people fit brake upgrades and instead of bedding in they scream off up the road and jump on the brakes to feel the improvement.

Ask me! Worst discs I've ever had, lasted one track day on my old 330i before warping. Replaced them with Brembo discs & no more problems.

After my experience with their bicycle brake pads I was sufficiently put off EBC to never try their other products in my own cars!

ETA: And on the other hand I know a guy who swears by them. He uses 'Greenstuff' in his Caterham race car and he's not easy to out-brake. He likes them so much he's put 'Redstuff' on his Fiesta ST. I can only deduce that EBC products are wildly inconsistent in quality and performance- and from what I've heard, many others have reached the same conclusion.

EBC are the only brake pads I have ever had to take off and throw away, where the replacements were not a upgrade. Green Stuff are truly shocking.
