Not strictly S related but I'm just about to ask for a pay rise to fund some more improvements + running costs for the S.

Not much hope, but if I can wangle somthing then Rear Avos it is.

We'll see if my bosses are half decent humans or not.

Hmmmm... that's didn't go too well. "I will press the managing director to schedule a performance review." If things keep going this way I'll be buying one of those Trabants!!

You were fobbed off then, Chris ?

I'd say keep at it and if you get no joy then feck the lot of 'em and sign up with a recruitment agency or check someone like www.reed.co.uk. Worth a go, I reckon. Not nice feeling undervalued.

Best of luck whatever you choose to do.

Good Luck Chris. btw: Check your contract - if it's been more than a year since your last review you may be entitled to one.

Sorry to hear that mate, thing its time you start a planning...

Knuckle down on your course for now, as the job market gets slightly dormant towards Christmas I wouldn't suggest moving to the new year, during that period morale leaps up and budgets become available, so things start happening.

How big is the company you work for, as that could decide how to handle things internally and what to do next....

This may not sound like a great solution (as I dont know what other careers you are considering) but many people can, with the right amount of application, find themselves a better paying job not too far away.

I know its hard doing what you do (not an awful lot of contracts about) but its possible. There is always better right around the next corner. Usually. Finding it is the trick, but with the right amount of application, find it you will.

Cheers for the advice guys, I think if I move careers it will also be a move South, back to the Surrey area. Things are a lot easier for me there. ok, I have access to more cars and tools and I can take the S apartIt's not really a question of wage, I know that by moving South, being the youngster that I am, I can move in with my parents for a while. My youngest brother has just hit 17 and is going throught the motions, learning to drive, girlfriends, parties etc. So I can help the folks out quite a bit. I can easily get the same/close to the wage I'm on in Surrey, just that it would probably be in telesales or such like, and I do actually like doing graphics.

I shall wait and see what the new year brings. Hopefully Santa will bring me a Griff or a Turbo for the S, but probably not.

Surrey folk are much wealthier old chap, take a spot of tea at highnoon daily sir, and from the comfort of your easy chair, browse the job sections of the local papers.

If you do find a job doing similar work, the pay will surely be quite a bit better... Im sure !?!

Dont make up your mind to do telesales, make up your mind to get a better paying job, look hard, and you will find it.

I dont want to make this too long winded, just ignore if you dont agree [philosophical-mode-on]but even if there arn't any better paying jobs, you'll still find one, if its what you really want, and you are prepared to put in the hours searching. I believe all good things come to those that first of all believe that they can (somehow) be found etc... [/]

Then, next spring, you might be in a position to consider selling the S and 1 or 2 of your other 3 cars, and shopping around for a griff
