I am cashing in my pension and am buying the car of my dreams.
Budget has set itself to £35k looks like a 2006/7 car I can just squeeze a roadster into this but do I want to?
Is there any significant advantages of Roadster v Coupe? & Performance.
Car will be a manuel!

Coupe
More is more!

smile

depends what you are using it for. Going on European trips - has to be the coupe - luggage loading.

Coupe is better looking as well

i have a DB9 Volante; I initially wanted a coupe (james bond factor) but the volante has been an absolutely wonderful experience on non-rainy days; really adds an extra special element to the experience! and on Euro trips- nothing as nice as a convertible in the mountain passes/coastal roads....

I went from a DB7 Volante to a DB9 Coupe - to be honest wish I had gone for the Volante. But it is a personal choice.

I have had both and agree that it is really down to how you intend to use it.

We have done three European trips in a DB9 Volante and the V12V Roadster and there is nothing quite like being on a mountain road, sun shining with the roof down to hear the fabulous sound that your Aston makes. You really do not get that in a Coupe! Our trips were between 7-10 days and no problem fitting everything in - even room for the Dinner Jacket. As long as you plan you will be fine. If your looking to fulfil a dream go for the roadster!

yes we've done 23k miles around Europe in a Vantage roadster
Never going back to a coupe I would miss the views, the noise and the smells

shoutROADSTER !! Sorry for shouting but it has to be a Roadster. Just had a coupe for a couple of weeks and there's not that much more luggage space. If you use all you have in the roadster - behind the seats, etc theres plenty for two people. Listen to Mikey!!

European road trips aside, I'd still pick the Roadster. As Neil says, it isn't quite as good looking roof up and has less boot space, but.......... It looks superb roof down with those classy rear leather butresses, early cars also introduced a range of improvements to the brakes, steering and suspension ahead of the coupe and most important you get two cars in one. A refined GT roof up and a traditional British sports car roof down.
The sound of the V8 at full chat roof down is AWESOME and roof lowered it feels more exciting and involving to drive with very little loss of rigidity. Best of luck finding one, you know what to do if you want the full info smile

Roadster for us too!
We've had two coupes and now have a roadster and love it! We've just returned from a 2,200 mile hoon around spain and being able to hear the exhaust all the time and see the 360 degree views was wonderful.

In the coupe, I found a lot of the enjoyment was just going fast (particularly in the v12), with the roadster it's still nice when going slow :-)

The car will be a ‘manuel’ you say? Would it be from Barcelona?

The Coupe ie a special car and probably the best choice if you use it all year round or do not have a garage, but the Roadster is an extra special car and as previously mentioned, you can always put the roof up.

The chassis is not as taught, with slight scuttle shake, but the pleasure of a sunny day with the roof down is worth a month of scuttle shake.

The Roadster also has softer suspension so if you intend leaving the car as-is, this could be a factor, comfort against all-out performance.

It's your choice.
