Whats the score?

If I upload a home video with a track on it will Black Eyed Peas come and arrest me? Assuming you cant use comercial stuff like that, how do you go about finding tracks to use......and if I host the video myself and just send the link to friends to see my stuff.....will Will I Am leave me alone?

If you load a video up without any music on first, then go to edit and you can then add music from the list of YouTube music.

Content-ID will identify the track and either leave you alone / claim the rights and display ads, getting the money / mute it.

It can be different for different territories, as there are often different labels involved or some territories being more militant about it than others.

yeah...but my video is timed to the music so dont really want to just dump some random soundtrack over it!

YouTube will let you know if there's a problem, I have a couple that say "Match third party content" and it's not been a problem.
