My brother's E-Class estate (220 diesel I think) apparently needs new front discs, but it is only 15 months and 21,000 miles old. Is that a normal wear rate? (The dealer reports the pads were actually still OK, only 75% worn, though I presume they'll be changed with the discs.)

Normally you would replace pads at least once (or twice) before the discs so something is not right.

Mine has done 150,000 on the same discs and still within tolerances, so either his are made of chocolate or he drives on the brake pedal.

I do like the one where they had changed them one week before and wanted to change them again! Always ask them to keep the old ones to show you, but then they could be keeping a set just for that purpose.
