Hi, I am the owner if a TVR S2 and I am searching for a 'spare' soft top frame and fabric ideally from a 3000s. I saw one recently at cadwell park and I have an inkling that with some work it could possibly be modified to fit my car.

I so hate the mx5 for its slick folding roof and want to upgrade my 1989 S2 to a better if older solution.

Any help or clues much appreciated

Hi,
this may spark some lively debate!
I have both a 3000S and an S3 and neither is ideal. The 3000S looks best without the hood fitted IMHO but since it doesn't fit in the boot, it has to be driven with the hood fitted and folded down if there's a hint of rain - but it doesn't stow nicely so is flapping around as you drive. The S3 method would be great if there was also a soft top replacement for the hard tops since, when they are in the boot, there's not much room for anything else.
In summary, my favourite mod for an S3 would be a soft top that wouldn't blow off at legal (or even illegal speeds) or a folding hood for the 3000S that would fit in the boot - middle ground would be a tonneau (which is under consideration scratchchin ).

Why a full folder? With a soft Targa top and a folding back window what's not to like about that? spin

Who's been watching U-tube videos then?!
Not sure I'd want to compromise driving pleasure (and looks) for speed of erection (!) since even with the Targa hard panels it's still only takes a couple of minutes. As I said, my goal on the S3 is to be able to fill the boot with luggage, not hard tops.

I'm not sure how much of the 3000S frame came from the Jensen Healey - certainly the lower hinges and probably the front rail did but not sure if the rest of the struts and levers were borrowed or fabricated. I've got loads of photo's of mine in bits and could measure them up if you fancy having a go at fabricating . . .

If possible I'll hang on for the full thing. I know it's not everyone's taste, but then it is mine!😄
