Porsche Boxster roof problem

I have a 2001 Boxster which has just developed a roof problem and will not come back up .
The handbrake is up but no light is showing any ideas?

No experience with Boxster tops. (I never lower mine.) About all I can do is advise you to consult the owners manual and do the emergency top close thing and get the car to a shop and have the problem diagnosed.

If the handbrake switch has packed up (light not on), the roof will not work as its not recognising the handbrake being up. A new handbrake switch should fix this but to get to it the centre console needs removing. Not a difficult job but takes approx 45min-1hr. Switch not to dear either. Hope this helps.

Complicated to explain without you seeing it but on my car (and common when I googled it) the outer cables had stretched due to engine heat so the inner cables no longer pulled the linkage enough to move. Had to disconnect the linkage at sides (in owners manual) to manually lift it half way to fix the cables. All very diy able if that's what it is.

Check the plastic ball joints haven't broken on the arms
