Problems with Go Pro Hero 2 - advice please
Discussion
Good evening everyone!
I'm hopeful one the knowledgeable PH bods will be able to assist me.
I while ago I purchased a Go Pro Hero 2 and it's always worked wonderfully. It's never missed a beat.
I then purchased the remote control and associated Bac Pac.
To enable these items to sync, I had to update each of them using Go Pro's PC programme and ever since then I have encountered problems.
For a start, the remote drains it's battery VERY quickly, while the Bac Pac and Camera are absolutely fine, although I have noticed the increase battery useage in the camera.
Cheif among the issues though, is that the camera regularly freezes.
Sometimes the signal between remote and camera is lost, so the camera just continues to record or sometimes never even starts, despite the remote giving it's "beep".
On other occasions, the camera won't actually switch off without pulling out the battery.
I have attempted to update everything again, but it just automatically comes up saying it's all up to date.
So over to those who know!
Can i force everything to up date again? Or perhaps I can reset everything to a factory setting?
As i've only owned the remote for a couple of months, is it worth contacting Go Pro for replacement?
Any pointers or advice you could offer would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in advance,
Darren

That doesn't sound right with the remote - I would attempt to have it replaced, sounds like its internal battery is knackered.
The freezing - the newer software may require more from the memory card, is it a decent-brand class 10 card? I'd try a new high quality card and see if that resolves it as they do tend to freeze when the card can't keep up.
To be honest the quality of Go Pro's is quite appalling - great when they work, but I'm really hoping for a good rival to come on the market soon.

I would put money on it being a memory card issue. Freezing is the number 1 indicator that the card can't keep up with the write speed.
Out of interest, what card are you using?
Although mainly for the Hero 3 Black Edition, here is the list of recommended memory cards >>> http://gopro.com/support/articles/software-update-...

Hi there.
Thanks for the reply
Coincidentally, two days after posting, I received notification that an update was available for my Go Pro.
Once updated, I tried my camera over the weekend with no problems whatsoever during 3 hours of usage.
The remote battery was even fine!
So I guess it was a wider spread problem for which they have now fixed.
Thanks again.
