Evening people. I live in an apartment at the moment with the other half. We own a rabbit and she's a year old last week. Anyways next month we will be moving back to my parents house to save for our first house together. They own a cat who is very placid. My question is do we introduce them together or do we keep them completely separate, I'm worried the rabbit may spook the cat and the cat will never return, has anyone done this before and what advice would you give?

Thanks in advance, Christian.

My cat tends to hunt and kill rabbits and bring them home - then the dog gets them. I'd say introduce them carefully with the rabbit in a cage.....

I must have the most laid back cat in the world then, my 2 Dutch does get on fine together, I've seen him and the girls all curled up side by side taking in the sun in the garden!

We have two cats, Guzzi ignores Micky, the rabbit, but Peep sleeps in his hutch. Micky ignores her.

We have two cats, who will regularly bring in adult rabbits from the field across the road.

Yet they will jump in either rabbit's hutch come feeding/cleaning, rub up against them, then sleep together. All about whether they're considered part of the family unit.

Keep in hutch/cage, play often with rabbit then stroke cat, and you'll be fine after a little while.

Only thing to be worried about is if the rabbit is very flighty. If so, when it runs, instinct kicks in and cats chase. Quite easy for a decent size rabbit to kill a cat with a well placed kick...
