Hi Peeps...Well after years of searching for the correct clutch cable for the 280i i think i have found what it is, I have ordered one as i need one so i will confirm once it gets here that it is the right length..Thanks to wedgeinald for borrowing me a spare he had which gave me something to compare to..I will post it up on the wedge parts list once im confident that it fits...Cheers...Ziga

Its a FORD ESCORT MK2 RS2000 MEXICO RALLY CLUTCH CABLE.

Mark how did this fit. I'm running around with a spare in my car from a cortina same fittings but it is only about 4 foot or so. if yours fits i'll get one as a spare as well.

I replaced my clutch cable with a (early) Cortina 2.3 cable - QH number GCC1207

Then cut off the plastic top insulator 'hat' and remove the rubber bush to fit cable into
the pedal.

Then this cable is a match for the original on my Tas.

Hi Marcus..The one that i borrowed from wedgeinald has an inner cable that is 49" long so it sounds like you have the right one, I wont be sure until the one i have ordered arrives...I bet its too short..If you get a moment could you pop a pic up of both end fittings please...Cheers..Ziga

Morning guys,
Cant post pics from this phone, i'll nab the wifes when she gets in and post a pic.
The fittings are the same but it is only 39" long, typical man exaggerating the length after an afternoon in the pub.
The part no is QCC1045, sounds similar to rck's but i suspect it mught be just a wee but too small frown

I always thought it was a Granada 2.3.

It will be on the alternative spares list I have in a box file at home. I'll check on there, but Richard Thorpe would know for sure.

Hi Peeps..Well i received the one i ordered and it was too short..Apparently the one that is needed is a Quinton hazell part number QCC 1010, Its for a Cortina mk3 2.0ltr, The total length of the inner cable is 1219mm/121.9cm/47.99203"...Apparently speedy cables can make them up as long as they know what length the inner cable is, You ask them for the one for the cortina...I might call them and see if they can make a batch as i have only found one so far online...(Which i have ordered)..TBC..Cheers...Ziga

I'm pretty sure it would fit, albeit a bit tight. Hopefully it will, better than £45! If it is a tight fit, then it would do as a spare to get home.
Failing that, we could drill a hole by the gear stick and shove the plate when we want to change gear with our hand! lol.

Mmmm..Hand clutch control combined with gearstick for quick shifting...idea

Failing that..If you go onto find-a-part-org and type in the QH part number it gives a cross reference for the cable, Although the length is the same i cant find a pic of one to compare end fittings with...Cheers...Ziga

Mark, check out the link above. I still cant post pics up of mine, but the link has a photo.
Also google images, the second photo has the measurements but in metric, i'm an imperial man so have no idea what the mm is unless its in a socket set lol.
Put qcc1045 in ebay and the first one up finishes tomorrow, £3 odd plus p+p, not much to loose if it does turn out to be too small.
Let me know what you think mate.

Hi Marcus, I spoke to burton power yesterday and the only one that is the correct size/length is the QCC1010 which thay have run out of, I actually bought one from Burton its a QCC1062 which is too short..I will keep looking but i have covered a lot of avenues..When i search for something i do it for hours...Days...Weeks...Years...The odd stone does get over looked though, No-ones perfect..nuts...Ziga

Zig I am sure that the cable is also the Ford Fiesta XR2i part? have you searched under that for one ... I seem to remember back in the day when I had a 280i that I got one from my local small Ford parts emporium?
