Just had an email from CRC reminding me that winter's almost here & the offers are on the trainers.
I've been considering a turbo trainer for the past couple of years & this has made me think about them again.

Anyone have any experience with them & any recommendations?

Tried using one last year. Get some mudguards, a decent set of winter kit/lights etc and ride outside.

I have all of the above & even considered studded tyres the way things have been going the past couple of years.
Feel I'm getting old & need to wise up & stay indoors tho...

It was a grim experience for me, I can last about 20 minutes but the heat/boredam and the nature of riding a Turbo gets to me. Would rather go out, make sure I have the right gear to stay warm and it's a much better experience in any weather condition ( bar the week of snow where I stick to main, de-snowed roads ).

Try interval training on a turbo. Trying not to vomit will keep you entertained enough.
