Hi, cant quite work out the alarm on my `96 Chim. I have a remote button which unlocks the doors and switches off the immobiliser, that all works ok. I have a strange shaped key which which you fit into a lock next to the ignition switch. Can`t see why it`s there as the remote seems to do it all.

Hi,

If you open your car and don't put the keys in the ignition and at least turn it a couple of clicks, within I think it's 15 seconds the immobiliser kicks in, the little key is to reset it so the car starts...

Hope this helps

The little widget only siwtches off the immobiliser, which re-enables itself if you don't turn the ignition on quickly enough once you've disabled the alarm. It can be more handy to shove it into the slot than to fumble around with the zapper.

You are correct however if you get fed up with fumbling around trying it plug the widget thing in,which in my car means taking the key out of the ignition, pluging in the widget, waiting for the light to go out and then putting the key back in the ignition to start the car. All you have to do is leave the key in the ignition and simply press the alarm fob once and all will be well and the car will start.
