I am about to start getting all the bits in place for a rebuild on my 4.5 AJP and I want to put a steel crack in the old girl to help ensure reliability even with increased horses.

Only problem is that I know not where to source one from as they seem to be a little like hens teeth at the moment, does anyone know where I may be able to get one from?

I know some standard Cerb's came out of the factory with a steel crank fitted, is there any way I can tell if mine is one of those?

I'm ignorant on this one but surely they were all steel? Maybe some were forged and some cast?boxedin

Maybe I should have put the word "billet" in my request.

I will see what the engine builder says about it, do you know what the stroke actually is so we can work that into our calculations?

What I don't want to change is the revvy nature of the standard stroke unit.

Morning David, I have spoken to the guy who will ultimately be building this engine, he is aware of these cranks and it seems they need a spacer between the head and block along with a load of other bits modified.

He did mention that when they built one of these in the past it did go like the clappers but unfortunately I do not want to take my car that far from standard so while it is a very good price I will keep looking, sorry.

Gruf.

No problem , i know it is not a small job to fit , it can stay in the loft until I feel braver .

Maybe worth asking in the Dunlop Tuscan Challenge forum too. They may at least know if one of the engine builders have one.
