Another one about Speed Cameras

Any one know if you can get done by a forward facing Truvelo Camera which takes the picture using a big bright flashing light instead of the infra red they are meant to have???
Dam right dangerous cos i couldn't see for a few seconds afterwards, it was well into the evening.
Yup, the Truvelos in Portsmouth are usually forward facing and give out a blinding flash when triggered. This may be the reason why drivers brake hard when one goes off (I once sat and watched
). I hope these are fitted with magenta filters, otherwise I hate to think just how bright these could actually be. (infra red filters are not used)
now i have got the NIP to show the crime! Seems crazy that these cameras can be used and it clearly states in the Highway Code that "you must not use any lights in a way which would dazzle or cause discomfort to other road users" (rule 94).
Is this a case of one rule for the paying public and another for the police?!

Slider is of course absolutely correct......
I mean..security lights on houses and gate posts aren't covered by the Highway Code either..

Funny you should say that, on my way to work early mornings there is a house with two gate post lights that look just like oncoming head lights. Of course they are not on every day just to confuse further.
Using the erroneous logic from another thread I would see these, "know" that they are domestic lights and keep my own lights up on main beam. Then wonder why one day the oncoming car gives me a retina searing flash so that neither of us can see.

Well it might not be easy to legislate for and enforce, but maybe they should be.
I recall an extremely bright light on the outside of a farm building just off the A64 at Potter Brompton between Malton and Scarborough. Travelling towards Scarborough the road is straight for quite a distance and this is followed by a very high speed LH bend. The farm building is perhaps 20 yards away from the road on the outside of the bend, but the layout is such that drivers heading for Scarborough see this external light as being that of an oncoming vehicle. I don't travel that road now, so I don't know if the wretched light has been removed or shielded in some way, but it used to be a confounded nuisance.
Best wishes all,
Dave.

Aren't these Truvelo camera meant to have a Infra Red flash system to prevent the blinding flash in the first place. Despite the flash only being for a mirco second, it takes much longer than that for your eyes to return to normal.
They have a magenta lense over the flash (i think because of the colour of the lense people think its IR)
When they go off in your face (and i have been flashed a few times by them) the effects do not last as long and they are not as blinding as the standard white flash.

I think maybe somthing could be done about house lighting that is possible blinding drivers but i dont think its police enforceable, maybe council.
If its just a light on a gatepost which is not blinding other drivers then i dont think there is alot anyone can do about it, not would the council want to do anything about it if its not causing any probs.

Make sure its a truvelo, If its a gatso running in forward facing mode you can fight it in court as its not an approved method of speed detection

I complained about one on a house near a motorway sliproad and it was removed.
Gareth
How do people now get onto the motorway
Do they just drop onto it? Street
