I was moved by a sad and tragic story last Friday, the end result a reminder that any charity that searches for a cure for any cancer related disease, or charity that helps people through it, needs our support.

I phoned an upgrade customer on Friday morning to inform him that his car except for a few minor electrical fit and finishes was complete. He had been extremely patient the 3 or so weeks prior to this call and never contacted me during our works once. When i asked if he was OK? ..... not quite was the reply....
To cut a long story short and keep details to a minimum, shortly after delivering his car to us he was rushed to hospital needing treatment for ongoing cancer related illness. The prognosis is tragically not good at all, not just will he not be able to drive his Vantage again, sadly the cancer is terminal.

We will return the car totally back to standard and deliver it back free of any charge.

Those of you who know the reason i have been away for a while, know this is a subject close to home for me too, and at this moment one of our technicians has nearest and dearest fighting this disease too.

Those of you in the know wink will also know I came by a couple of hundred quid plus change recently... round that value up with the fabric Mr Toms donated on Friday when he visited with Bincenzo and there can be no better recipient for this £300 than Macmillan

Should you feel kind and charitable, here is the link.......

Hi Mike

Sorry to hear such sad news it proves as my Auntie Valerie said while she was fighting cancer " it is better to regret the things you have done and not the things you havn't!".
Unfortunately she lost her fight before she had a chance to do all the things she had dreamed of.

Thank you for the prompt, I have just put in a monthly donation in her memory and for everyone who needs this fantastic service which as a tax payer should not be down to charity!!!!

Donation ref: 973147

Remember reading on here recently that a fellow Piston Header spent the day giving rides to terminally ill kids. And recently A.M Cambridge organised a run out to the Norfolk Broads and laid on a bit of lunch on a paddle steamer. All us drivers had to do was listen to a lady representing a local hospice for ten minutes and handover a few quid at our own discretion for a great cause.

I'm sure most of us have been touched in one way or another buy cancer so tonight, I've been out to the garage to remind myself just how lucky I am to own such fabulous cars. Now wouldn't it be great if we could, as owners of Aston Martins, put them to good use to raise some cash.

Why not bounce some ideas around here and lets organise something for the spring. My business has done a bit for Clic Sargent over the past couple of years, supporting families with terminally ill children. One of their areas of work that shocked me is how they support parents after the child has died. Come on chaps, I'm sure between us we can come up with something that'll raise some cash whilst enjoying our fabulous cars.

LD, what a fantastic idea. Heads together, I'm sure we could come up with something relevant. We are extremely lucky to have what we have, so lets share it. Why don't we start a separate thread for ideas such that we don't dilute Mikes excellent post here? Thoughts? If it gathers steam it could be a sticky with recurring events.

Have done Dream Rides for the "East Anglian Childrens Hospice" and the "Burns Club" with the TVR's in the past, it's good to try and give something back when you can so I would be up for helping out.
