Has anyone out there got experience converting over to wires.
I am not wanting to use a converter but really want to use the correct items that will avoid moving the wheels out to far as I was wanting to use 6in 15in wires as fitted on the LWB V8 cars and using the normal bolt on knock on converters the converters will move everything out considerably.
I have been told that when they make the wheels they can loose some of that movement on how they set and adjust the spokes however I thought there might be someone out there that may have done this and be able to advise.

Tuscan V8 wire wheels fit straight onto a Tuscan V8!!

I have drunk beer with 2 Tuscan V8 owners (genuine cars) this week at my house and at Goodwood Revival yesterday and will be staying with one in France next weekend when I visit the "Remparts". I will ask if they know what your problem is but probably wont be able to help. Fabulous period outfits at Revival by the way.

No but Piston heads has I have noticed that happening on a number of threads where it repeats a reply lets see if it happens this time.

Back to subject having talked to another V8 Tuscan owner today who was a real help.
His Car is running 6inch 15inch wheels with 205/65/15 tyres however would prefer 70s however in V rating they are hard to find or extremely expensive the car does look so different when the wheel arches are filled as intended.
His Suggestion was to fit 16inch wires if They are available in the same offset and fit 205/65/16s however they seem hard to find and I guess will get even harder as the years go buy.

PS You could have dressed up a bit for Goodwood wink

Apart from the weather a nice productive day picked up the wheels and fitted them on the Tuscan today Well Pleased.
The Wheels are MWS Cobra 6inch Wheels in Polished Stainless a lot lighter than the powder coated or Chrome and as the years pass will be worth the investment.
I ordered them through the TR Centre as they did a better price than ordering direct both MWS and the TR Centre where a great help but also a big thank you to IMC for his wisdom and advice on the Tyres Size.
The Tyres are 205/70/15 VS Blockley period tyres which I rather like the look of but will let you know how they perform but certainly fill the arches and create the look I was wanting.

Thanks
Really pleased I just love the period look
I don't think they look right on the M series cars or those that fit them on TR6S etc as not really period but on the Vixen and Tuscans and Granturas I love the look.
Will do some decent pictures when the rest of the paint and chrome trim is done.

FWIW, I think the tyres are too big and the proportions are all wrong.
Looks like a turf tractor to me.
Sorry, just being honest!

Thanks they are OE speck and size the camera angle may give that look but in the flesh they don't 205/65/15 don't fill the arches as much but each to there own will have a look at a few Tractors LOL

What kind of clearance do you have to the pivot bar with those tyres?

yes
Andrew. Not saying anything is wrong but check the tyre clearance at rest between your inner rear sidewall and your lower outer end of the pivot bar. it should be at least 10 - 15mm to be safe. Wrong size tyres can rub and can lead to explosive tyre failure. I would have went to a 195 / 65 tyre as a max on a 6 inch rim, you have effectively spaced out with the conversion splines but do check the gap at rest and remember a 205 tyre rolls on the rim more than a narrower tyre.

Thanks Niel
Yes thanks to one of your old posts in the past I was aware of that hence why I did a test with another wheel before I ordered them up I also fitted 3mm spacers as I have that on the Vixen and others that have driven her like the way she handles.
The space I have not measured as we where running out of time and I needed to get home so I took a picture as I thought the question may arise looks a lot more than 15mm more like 25mm so the space could come out we will just see once we get her on the road properly lots more to do yet.
Mat who has re built the car owns a wheel alignment company and may play around with the camber but I will leave that to him and take his advice.
Advice from other V8 road spec cars which there are not to many was if the budget would allow to get the 205/70/15s I know the tyre pattern will be a matter of taste but certainly looks period and may be a help to others if I try them and they work well.

Yes Phil I will be looking into that depending on how she handles however I am aiming for a road not track car so may not be an issue but will just see how things go.

Best Andrew,
THESE ARE MY FiRST choice of wheels.
Tyres a little big but have fun with them.
Filled arches are the way to go.

It looks great and reminds me of the picture of Steve Reid's Grantura JCU 701 next to a busstop, that introduced me to TVR.

Hans.
