Flat Battery / Starting Issues / Alarm Reset - DBS
Discussion
I'm wondering if any other owners have come across this scenario and whether there is a 'reset' procedure I can perform outside having the vehicle towed to the dealer.
I have a 2010 DBS Volante (Manual Carbon Edition)... Coming back from a 6week trip, I went to start the car and the battery was flat (somehow the charger became disconnected at the outlet). While charging and inspecting the battery, I noted the battery had a shorted cell, so I replaced it. However, the car fails to respond to the ECU. The voltage is good, the interior lights, headlights and door locks all respond normally (as well as with the ECU), but there is no response from ECU start ring, the entertainment system or other systems associated with the starting function. Basically, aside from these other items working, everything else is 'dead' (power windows, pwr top, the start function, Nav, Radio, Error messages, etc.).
I've checked every fuse to insure there wasn't a blown fuse (trunk, engine and the fuses in the battery compartment) and the fuses are all fine.
The upper left gauge on the dash panel has the flashing red LED whichdenotes the alarm is enabled, so I assume the issue is the immobilizer is on, hence preventing any start function.
As I understand it, as the voltage drains there's a safety (stay alive)function that shuts down non critical features as the voltage drains. But it's unclear what happens when the voltage reaches below 10.5v and whether there are certain 'reset' procedures to 'clear' something like the alarm function.
I understand that the alarm module has a set of dedicated batteries itself, that may require replacement, but I would think one would get a few more years from an onboard battery inside a module, as they aren't replaceable (one has to replace the module itself)..
I'd be interested in hearing whether anyone has experienced this themselves and hopefully..., whether a solution or procedure exists aside from calling for a tow... :-)
Thanks in advance, Bill

Had a similar low battery on my DBS Volante Manual, and some strange behaviour like you mentioned.
The solution for me was to connect the conditioner for more then 12 hours continiously (so without using any electric source in the car, keep it closed, alarm off, etc). After a long evening/night, the next day the car started as normal, except some windows were "confused".
Dealer checked everything afterwards, and reset all errors, including the windows, and all back to normal. Battery still ok since.

hi i also came back from UK today to find my Aston Martin DBS manual 2010 with a flat battery, i was able to get in and change the battery as i had the emergency key but like in previous messages i found on here, all electrics worked except for windows, AC system satnav and stereo would not power up from ECU. i didnt even get the red light around the ECU coming on and no matter what i did nothing changed
the only thing on the dash board was a light showing the alarm system operating and the central locking eventually started to work the dashboard only showed the mileage nothing else
as i had put a new battery on i would of thought the power was sorted but it wasn't. there is no battery reset button behind the drivers seat like there was on the DB9 and i was hoping someone would guide me on what may be a fault? or does it reset itself like someone had happen some 12hours after charging their battery via a battery power pack connected into the boot
i am desperate to find a fix for this so anyone who can advise me on what to do, would be appreciated
thanks
