Scottish government pledge to end car emissions by 2050

It's just a "vision" at the moment, and seems to be at the mercy of market forces they can't control, but the fact remains that the current Scottish Government is working towards Scottish towns, cities and communities being free from the "damaging effects" of petrol and diesel fuelled vehicles by 2050, with a target of half of all fossil-fuelled vehicles being phased out of urban environments across Scotland by 2030.

I like the fact that, according to the BBC, Transport Scotland initially claimed 1000 annual EV sales in Scotland but had to revise the figures down to 235 after conceding that they had included 700 or so mobility scooters in their original figures!

I'd happily run an electric vehicle in town, however the lack of charging points is an issue, coupled with the selfishness of people who park in front of charging points with fossil fuelled cars, makes it a non starter for now.

There's also the seldom addressed issue of charging your electric car from a point supplied from the grid in an area that utilises a coal or oil fired power station. Anyone for CO2?
