rear tailgate and potential gearbox problem
Discussion
Hi all, I have some potential problems with my 2012MY Range Rover. The radio issue was one of them but have thankfully found a solution for that. The other two are as follows:
The seals at the bottom of the rear window on the tailgate seem to have perished in the corners - they look like they are blistered. I seem to have vague memories of this being cited before as a known issue but can't seem to find the thread. Is this something anyone knows anything about?
Secondly, I have experienced on occassion, a slight juddering when I put my foot on the accelerator. It is fine if I am accelerating, but when cruising either at low speeds or motorway speeds, if I use the accelerator to simply maintian speed I sometimes experience a juddering/kangarooing feeling.
The car is due for a service in the next 3 weeks and wanted to know if either of the above are known issues prior to hearing what the dealer has to say.
Thanks in advance for any help
cheers

The black rubber seals that run vertically? Do they look like they are bubbling up inside? If so it's a known fault and warranty job.The seals at the bottom of the rear window on the tailgate seem to have perished in the corners - they look like they are blistered. Kangarooing, mine has done it before but it's not regular. The garage said it was the car "learning" my driving style, which may be nonsense. But it did it only when new and very occasionally since.
Thanks for the input - yes it is the vertical strips, bubbling on inside and outside, right at the bottom of the vertical strips. Re Kangarooing, car has done 25k miles now so would have hoped it had learnt my driving style by now, almost feels like it is not sure if it should change gear or not. The moment you apply more pressure on the accelerator it dissappears...

Sounds like a visit due. The 'box is a dealer job, they'll probably need to get glass people in to do the black trims. They claimed it was a faulty batch. A faulty batch that seems to have been fitted to a lot of cars....Hi
I had exactly the same issue on my tailgate (2011 MY FFRR 4.4 TDV8). Fixed under warranty, no problem. I had the same throttle issue for the whole first year I owned it. Eventually the problem was identified by someone on the FFRR website, and was fixed with a main dealer software fix. You can't 'drive through it', etc.
It's been fine since then; fuel consumption was 25/26 mpg before that, now 28/30.

Sorry, just been through all the threads on the FFRR site, and I can't find it. It is to do with the software that controls the diesel injectors, and is a long job to update. Someone either on here or the FFRR forum keeps a list of all service bulletins and it was on one of those, sometime in mid 2012.
