Just heard that my car's in build but as valued over £50K insurance comp say must be garaged. My garage is not big enough and current Tuscan sits down end of long drive against garage door, protected by hubbies Porsche. Can't get cover so will prob have to canx car. Can anyone suggest an insurer?

Nooooooooooooo

Must be worth trying one of the insurance brokers rather than sticking with your current company!

Sorry to hear of your plight Di,

I'm pretty certain that when I was looking at quotes for Tuscan 'S's (old type) I was quoting value at over 50K so I'll check when I get home, and forward you some names.

Who are you with at the moment?

But it ain't over 50K!

I've found that they appear generally to be OK with cars over 40K but must have the obligatory Traker fitted.

Tell 'em its worth £49k. It can't be costing much more than that and by the time you've driven it off the forecourt will be worth less than £50k anyway.

Not a Tuscan i know or worth 50K, but my current ins wanted me to have garage for the Griff, however the broker agreed that with all the security on it, that as long as it was parked of road infront of the house and that the securaty devices were all active and had the subs paid they would cover it.

Cars these days seem to be stolen with the keys...

is it just me being rogue or am i the only one here that would say its garaged when it isnt--the chances of yu having an insurance claim are slim and ontop of that--the chances of an inspector comming rund are slimmer and ontop of that still--the chances of u making a claim and having an inspector come round and him realising that it doesnt quite fit in the garage are very slim.
or you can always knock the back wall of the garage through and have a smaller kitchen..... or extend the front..lol

by the way anything i just said was pure speculation and i would never ever put such a crazy plan into action....

Thanks for all the help guys, and the email Mr T, all very useful. The good news is that Ben at Dream Machine has put a lot of work in on my behalf and I think he may have cracked it. Still got to buy a Tracker but thats no bad thing, and I am looking at around £1,000 for cover. The build a bigger gge is agood idea but no time as it is rumoured I MAY GET IT IN TWO WEEKS

Sorry for shouting but getting excited.

Di

PS present gge is just full of the useless things my other half insists he must have but never uses.

Also the problem with my garage is that even if I could drive into it, with those big doors, I would never be able to open them to get out - now you're all going to say 'climb out the roof or rear window' - come on!!

I do believe one of the other probs is my post code. Sidcup just ain't the place it used to be!! Apparantly the scrotes can loose thmeselves very quickly coz I live so close to many major motorways/ M25 etc.

Still, onwards and more ins comp qtes here I come!!

I thought the older you got the cheaper it got

I had the same worry with the Cerbera, but it fits and has even bigger doors, you need to be careful or have carpet on the walls, but it can be done, unless you go on a doughnut binge that is!

But you've been married for longer than I and have had a chance to accumulate enough stuff to fill the garage up, so unless the butler has a clear-out...
