Hi,

I know people have put 302 V8s, Rover V8s and 4-cylinder Cosworths into 3000Ms, but what other strange combinations have been tried?

Just an idle question......

There was a Nissan Turbo-engined Vixen at Zolder this year and, several years ago, a Vixen with a 3.3 litre BMW engine made an appearance there too. One guy turned up at 'Back Home' with a special based on a Grantura chassis with a Toyota engine. Trevor Wilkinson was impressed (I think)

I've also seen a number of Buick, Ford and Chrysler engined TVRs in the US. My own mid-engined V12 Taimar project had to be abandoned in 1986 as the only way it would fit was transversely which left no room for the gearbox

Hi Terminator,

All sounds like good stuff!

What is the weight of the Essex V6? I saw it on the engine weights FAQ at 379 pounds, but that seems a bit light.

What is the 'Back home' event? Someone mentioned it over the weekend, but I didn't know what it was.

Any hints as to your next engine combo?

Ford Motor Company quote the dry weight of the 2614E (3 litre Essex V6) as 195Kg (430lb).

'Back Home' is the name given to the annual TVRCC factory visit weekend in Blackpool. When I helped organise it back in 1990, we called it the 'Meet Your Maker' weekend but the 'green guardians' took over the following year and renamed it to something they considered to be politically correct.

I'm considering a project for later this year, using my 3000S as a basis for improvement. Ford power of some descrption will probably prevail

My car "TVR Grantura MKIII 1800S" is also fitted with a strange engine; A fiat DOHC engine with 2 x double webers.
