Firstly tears of sadness. After nearly 3 years of some great motoring and non stop smiling I've finally said farewell to my BR moded V8V. It was a wrench to part with it. The BR manifolds and cats have gone to Bincenzo for Project Buccaneer. I'm sure once his upgrade is complete he'll also be smiling from ear to ear.

Secondly tears of joy at my new acquisition - DBS coupe TT2 smile What better way to replace the Vantage? After collection from Grange AM Brentwood last week it was a short trip to Tom at Paintshield for some protection. Francis had a day to work his magic on it before Xpel Ultimate PPF was applied to the front end, sills and rear arches. This is a self healing film which I hope lives up to its billing! Check out the Paintshield website for info. Yesterday the car was picked up by Mike's team and taken to BR where it now resides awaiting their magic touch to release its true potential. So far then I've only managed just under 100 very enjoyable miles in it. I'm hoping to regain possession in 2 weeks, when hopefully my smile will be even bigger. My boys can't wait and neither can I. My only concern is how I get on with the TT2 after always having had manual performance cars. May take a bit of getting used to. I've no financial interest in either of these 2 companies; just a happy past customer returning for more work.

In line with BR tradition then my project needs a name. I did consider Iris or Theia but it may suit a more masculine name. So far thoughts are Invictus, Bacchus, Styx, Ares, Avenger and Thor. Roman or Greek mythological names apart from obviously the last two. I also like Merlin but had a cat with that name! I realise I'm probably setting myself up to be shot down but comments and ideas welcome.

Finally tears of frustration. I did take a couple of pics to post. Try as I might however I just can't get them to upload irked. Taken on iPhone then tranferred to Macbook Pro. File size reduced to under 2Mb jpeg (one image is only 160Kb). Browser is Safari but have also tried IE. When I try and upload it just comes up blank. If anyone has any bright ideas idea please enlighten me.

I hear that was a long day for The Paddymeister - he spent the next two at mine!

Hope you get the picture thing sorted, but in the meantime, enjoy your car. What are BR up to? Would love to see that when its done.

Sounds like the fellas at Grange looked after you. Haven't seen them since Centenary week back in July.

Yes Paddy had a late finish. He had to leave the back end to concentrate on the areas to be covered with film. I was hoping he'd be able to complete it before it went to BR but you'd obviously nabbed him! So there's still a bit of work to be done.

BR are replacing manifolds, inlet cams and cats.

Matt at Grange was great. It's my second car from them and can't fault the service. My V8V is there for sale and is a great buy for someone in the market for one. Unfortunately however it now comes with the OEM exhaust system.

Hi Steve. Plate will be changed once transfer through from the Vantage. Hopefully out and about a bit more with the extra seats.

Did consider Oculus but a bit obvious. I like Theia. She was the Titan of sight. A bit more obscure. Just not sure if I wanted a female name.

Congratulations on your DBS, a stunning car. The V12 is definitely a different driving experience to the V8V cloud9

I also had my new car attended to by Francis and then the Paintshield applied. I think as a combination treatment it is second to none to bring out and protect the beauty of the AM paintwork.

Look forward to seeing you and the car at a future meet smile

I think you lot should do away with all these fancy names and just call them something like "Brian" or Nigel. Much more original.

JP, that is one stunning car. Having recently been lucky enough to drive one, I now appreciate why you will be smiling so much and why you'll be counting the seconds until you get it back. As for the name, I'm fresh out of Roman Gods I'm afraid!

I've been saying this for ages! If I ever get a car modified by BR (unlikley at best), mine will be called Rupert.

Is that legit to secure a name before getting the job done? A bit like wiping your acensorede before you've had a ccensoredp! Sure get the paper ready while you're doing the business but wait until your on the job!! biggrin

As far as my naming dilemma goes, the question is should it be male or female? I'm edging towards Theia if female and Thor if male. Still like Merlin for the Spitfire connection but too many memories of the cat!

Male for a DBS. It's too butch to be a female (except a lesbian, but who wants a lesbian car?).
