Trying to figure out if this makes me a really sad b*stard for noticing, but I wondered if anyone else did.

I am talking about the Chimaera and Grif wing mirrors.

We know they come from a Citroen CX and as TVR drivers, I guess we can live with that knowledge.

However, I have noticed that other cars use these same wingmirrors.

To start with the more obvious, the Lotus Esprit uses them - which again, I am sure Lotus drivers can live with that.

BUT, I have seen what appears to be (on close inspection) the same wingmirrors on the Mclaren F1 and the Jaguar XJ200!!!!!

Somebody please confirm.... wouldn't you be extremley p*ssed of if you spent nearley £500k on a car with citroen CX wingmirrors!!!!

Have a search of the archives as someone has done this and documented it all with instructions + pics

The Cerbera and the McLaren F1 both use Corrado mirrors.

It is possible to retro-fit these to the Chimaera and Griffith, but it is a bit of a pain as some PHers have discovered (see archives).

So I've swapped my XJ220 mirrors for MacLaren F1 ones? What good taste I appear to have!

The early F1s used the CX mirrors, and the XJ220s appear to have two designs, but these look like the Citroen mirrors to me:

And here they are on the F1:

Also used on various Marcos models:

It was a challenge, but in pistonheads it turned up with:

Is that what you wanted?

Yeah, cheers for that, although now ive seen it ive gone off the idea a bit, they seem to sit alot higher than the regular mirrors.
