noisey fuel pump

how long after starting should the fuel pump carry on making that horrible noise?
drove down the road for about one and a half miles and was still doing it, never noticed before, is that normal?

A noisy pump is an unhappy pump, especially the 044's, I have 2 between the driver and passenger and can't hear them at any time when the engine is running.

It could be the pump failing, blocked filter or it trying to suck from the tank rather than being fed by a slight pressure ( common on the noble), has it been run low recently as ime on the noble once they start buzzing they never stop :-(
