350 SE . I have found a little bit of play on the rear wheel bearing when I rock the top and bottom of the wheel. Is the bearing on its way out ? The hub nut has a split pin in and I have not tried to tighten it. Should there be any play at all ?

Grease up the uj's check for play again. Possibly slight play in the uj's.

Rocking the wheel top and bottom will probably show UJ play. You really need someone to rock the wheel while you look at where the play is. And just because the nut is pinned doesn't mean it was correctly torqued. Worth checking if possible.

Agreed - if the bearing has play then you will get play rocking BOTH top/bottom AND front/rear. If it's only top/bottom then more likely UJ's, and you might see the bearing housing moving, too.

Another check for the UJ's is to have the handbrake on and rotate the wheel forward/backward, if they are bad you'll see play in the driveshaft yokes.

Ok thanks , I will try rocking it side to side if there is play I will test the hub nut. UJs only done 500miles so shouldn't be them !You can feel movement between the wheel and the hub carrier when you rock it.

wheel bearings tend to last about 20K -35K in my expeirence and also check the state of the lower mount bolt and the holes in the upright as they can wear here too
