Hi guys, I am quite new to the motor trade industry and just wanted some advice.

I got a call from a private vehicle management company saying they have a buyer for one of my cars. Sounded fine and got an amount agreed. On the invoice I sent they said to mark it 'reday to retail' as they wanted to drop car off straight to customer.

I am just waiting for funds to be transferred so they can then arrange pick up.

Anyway regarding the term 'ready to retail' car is 3 years old and done low mileage but does have stone chips and a car park dink and very minor dent on 3rd quarter. Also has a repaired fag burn in drivers seat (not the best job).

Question is what do they expect from me stating its 'ready to retail.' First time I have sold to a vechicle management company that are actually just financing the car to a customer.

Just a note that I already dropped the car price because of the issues above but they have not yet inspected it. Thanks

Depends on the car I suppose, but I'd expect all those things to be sorted. I bought a BMW from a main dealer & before I picked it up they got rid of a tiny dint in the door & re-sprayed the front bumper to get rid of stone chips. They also replaced both rear tyres as they were down to 3mm. It was a £30k car though - I wouldn't expect that to be done if it was a £3k one.

"Ready to Retail" to me sounds like they are expecting no faults whatsoever whether you've priced it accordingly or not.

Yeh car is only just over £4k and guy did say that they can expect minor stone chips and dents, etc. However saying one thing and then moaning when they collect the car is another. I did put in my email regarding car not being 3 years old and so would not be perfect! Dont want to sell if they just going to be messing me around after. Once car is sold then what can they actually do? I am sort of selling to trade rather than an individual..?

Ask them.

Was condition faults / rectification not discussed with price?

Some dealer 'retail' with faults (it's a used car mate) others get them pristine.

All sounds a bit vague to me, which is always a receipe for future disasters...
