Some really early gen 2 cars had that wheel, i looked at an opc car that had one once.

Yep steering wheel is correct as I have seen other Gen 2 caymans with that one.

it seems like a good buy.

My Gen 2 CS has that wheel...OPC wanted £2k for one of the sport design wheels.

My '09 987.2 has that steering wheel alas with buttons. Leftovers from 987.1 I guess. It's the only thing I hate lookwise about my car.

That's just the standard steering wheel. The round centred wheel is the optional Sports steering wheel which also has the chunkier rim/grooves at the ten-to-two positions.
