Snapped Injector thread
Discussion
Hi,
Had a problem with a leaking injector seal on my saab 9-3 1.9tid (120bhp).
I pulled the injector, replaced the seal and reinserted. However as I was tightening the injector clamp nut, it had sheared the thread. As a result the car is out of action as the injector cannot be secured.
Anyone have any experience on this?
Is the visible thread the steam of a bolt positioned inside the head?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

ok, is the thread simply a "stud" as such?
In that it screws into the head on one side, has a slight bulge and then another thread onto which the clamp nut secures?
You could see it, so surely you are in a better position to tell ?In that it screws into the head on one side, has a slight bulge and then another thread onto which the clamp nut secures?
So was it a bolt or a stud ? Really dont imagine it being anything special.
Even a picture of the damage would help

Working away from home for a few days, can't get a picture. So was it a bolt or a stud ? Really dont imagine it being anything special.

Hope they are the equivalent of these:

If so, then my stud has sheared about half way up, no thread above where the clamp fits, so to speak.
Hope it's a stud, would just screw out of the head and easily replaced. M10 thread on the visible thread, if the grips don't work I'll put a couple of nuts on and try to remove by undoing the bottom one.

Stud or bolt makes no difference.
How did it break in the first place though ? On removal attempt, or refitting attempt ?
Before you do try and remove it, give it a good soaking at least overnight in penetrating fluid, WD40 or similar.

Yes, I'll WD40 on Saturday and attempt on Sunday evening.

You assume I actually bother to read everything
Lord no. You generally ask something that's already been said in the first post so I never assume that

I'd pretty much decided you must be pissed most of the time but I'd never hold that against anybody. Quite a fan of it myself.
