I can't stop smiling!
Discussion
Just thought I'd say hi...
After 2 years with a Chimaera and the last 9 months with a VXT, I've come to my senses and bought another TVR.
It's a 1998 Cerbera 4.2 in Halcyon Atlantis, with blue and grey full hide. I absolutely love the car, although I'm still waiting for a dry day (typical weather!
) to find out what it can do (other than wheelspin!
). I don't think I've ever had to drive so carefully in the wet!
I've already experienced several problems in the last 14 days:
- Starter motor died the night before I collected the car but the selling dealer sorted this out
- Left the passenger door open slightly so the interior lights flattened the battery enough to be a non-starter
- Damp carpets in the drivers footwell (where's that silicon sealant...)
- The clutch pedal went to the floor on Saturday due to a leaking master cylinder (had the same problem with my Chimaera) so I've topped up the fluid and it's working again...
Despite the above, I can't stop grinning!
I've got the car booked in with Offords on Thursday for them to set the engine up, fit some Magnecors (do they make that much of a difference?) and sort out a couple of other things.
Hopefully I'll be heading back to the Mid-Essex meetings and maybe some of the Pistonheads events as well... See you all around!

Welcome to the clan!
Keep an eye out on that clutch, did u get it from a dealer? If you did I would ask them to check this out pronto.
Just looked at the details on ur profile. I wld bet thats ur slave cylinder. Was there any fluid on the floor? If not then it must have leaked into the bell housing.
Dont wnt to scare you but get it checked asap.

If the leads you are replacing are past their sell-by date and the insulation's defective then they will make a big difference. Otherwise they just look prettier! Sounds like you might want to get that clutch sorted, too. Could become v tiresome and no doubt let you down at the most inconvenient moment!
Enjoy

In fact, I'm glad you posted this, I've been meaning to mail you about the VXT which I have seen is now up for sale.
Would that be alright?
If you want any advice on the VX, drop me an email. It was a great car to drive, but my girlfriend found the passenger seat very uncomfortable and in the end refused to spend more than 30 mins in it... The hearing in my left ear is nearly back to normal now

I part-ex'd the VXT against the Cerb (ended up doing a straight swap) and the dealer has since sold the VX on ebay! Someone got a good deal on it:

Holy $*&"
, just seen how Cameron (camcar69) advertised it on vx220.org.uk...! That's one way to get people to notice! Will people notice the car or just his girlfriend though!
And just in case anyone goes looking, it's not work friendly! >> Edited by rmaurer on Tuesday 26th October 18:59
Congratulations..... you have superb taste in your colour choice.
I also bought an atlantis halcyon Cerb not long ago.
Absolutely loving it. Can't wait till we have a long dry spell so I can add some mileage.
I see your in North London. I'm South Herts, but I work in Enfield. Maybe our paths will cross.
Be like looking in the mirror.
I'll be sure to

Check the 11:23 post and hit the >here< link. Should save anyone viewing this thread a bunch of time digging through the vx220 site, interesting though it is, of course

I'm running it up to Offords this evening so will get it all checked out. There is some fluid residue on the clutch pedal and drip marks on the carpets, so I'm hoping that topping up the reservoir will be enough to get me there. It doesn't look like it's been checked in a while, as the black cover in the wing had a lot of old sealant on it.
Has anyone got any experience with solar battery chargers? I have to leave the car parked outside, and was hoping one of these would help prevent a flat battery. I bought one from Maplins (£14.99) but am concerned that the alarm may detect current fluctuations and start going off... I don't want to annoy the neighbours too much - I live in a no-through road and turning the car round has set a few car alarms off recently!

I had one on my Cerbera, waste of time. Never set the alarm off though
