Hi

I have a rotational scraping noise coming from the passenger rear wheel area of my e46 320i touring - mainly when making a fairly sharp right turn like going round a roundabout and seems worse when accelerating.

Had it looked at by 2 BMW specialists.

One garage said it was either my driveshaft or my differential but they couldn't be sure which?

The other garage said it could be my differential and topped up the oil - which hasn't worked. So I asked about the driveshaft and he said it's unlikely to be that.

So, basically neither garage is sure. Apparently the driveshaft is the cheaper option so do that first as a process of elimination.

Clutching at straws now folks. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Have they tries the wheel bearings? driveshaft may be loose in the hub, check the hub nut. Check your wheel nuts while your at it!

Another good suggestion but these have also been checked and appear to be OK too. If I'm honest it does sound like a high spot on the disc catching the back plate but according to the garage it's in good order.
