Hello .Has anyone tried this and what were the results and costs. Im planning a poweflex rebush and thought I would consider other options rather than powdercoating.

It sounds like a good idea to me, are you just going to galvanise or paint on top? If painting make sure you use the correct primmer otherwise the paint wont stick. Would be good to see some picture once yours are done.

I may paint or I may try to find out if they can then be powder coated. We have had some parts done at work that were powder coated over galv and they turned out OK.

I was talking to someone recently who restores old cars and he suggested, shotblasting to get the crud off, a single coat of red oxide and paint with stone chip.
He offered to spray my chassis in the winter for me with stone chip and I might just take him up on it.

I think the galv route is a no brainer. Once done, no more rust! If the chassis had been done like this in the first place then these conversations would exist... Then what would you do in the winter months!!!

not sure if i am 100% correct but does'nt galvanising involve lots of heat ? and as such you ned a vent hole so the internal air within the wishbone can escape during the process. . .but this of course leaves you with a hole which you probably dont want ??? just a thought . . . .the alternative of paint/stonechip might be more wishbone friendly.
preparing to be corrected . . .

I had mine blasted, then zinc coated and powder coated. All done by the same company.

I believe (but ready to be corrected by someone who knows better) that galvanising can distort the part so isn't a "no brainer".

fill the holes and then paint them. Depends how far you wish to go I guess!
