So, it isn't a Rolls at all, it's a Bentley. This seems to happen all the time in the "wedding car" marketplace - they call things "vintage" when they were built from a crappy Scorpio base about 5 years ago. It really p***es me, but I don't suppose the happy bride cares a toss.

The one redeeming feature of the car is that at least it was built on a '48 base, rather than on some rusty heap from the 70s. Still completely vile, though. I once told my daughter that if she had one of those "faux" vintage cars at her wedding, I simply wouldn't attend. And I mean it.

It's a bit of a cheek (and possibly illegal) to pass off that awful Bentley/Cortina "creation" as a Rolls Royce.

I think that the best "wedding" would be between it and a car crusher.

My daughter's not even close to getting married (so far as I know) and yet I do spend a disproportionate amount of time considering what cars might be used at said event. My wife wanted a horse-drawn landau for our wedding, but the hill from the church was too steep so we ended up with a Jag XJ6.

So someone ruined a Bentley Mk6 to make that abomination? Since RR and Bentley were essentially the same company at the time and the Silver Wraith chassis was the same as the Mk6 I don't understand the point that it's misrepresented as a RR, more to the point it's a Bentley logbook masquerading as a hideous pile of st with cheap Ford parts. Just out of curiosity, which RR is it meant to look like?

If there is a Bentley MkVI under there that is a shame. I have one in at the moment, and it's a gorgeous car,and very useable. There does seem to be something about a certain sector of the wedding trade....

There are thousands of MKVI Specials, it is the single biggest vehicle group in the BDC membership for example.

The cars were built new from very poor quality steel, and they rotted. Back in the sixties and the seventies when they weren't worth saving or restoring, they generally had the body removed, the chassis cut & shut, the engine lowered and moved further back and a decent little lightweight open two seater body attached in the Vintage style.

A well executed MKVI Special is a very nice thing, and they're fast, sometimes amazingly so. Just go to the annual BDC Silverstone race meeting and watch them racing!

However, there is no shortage of pig ugly ones out there too, and this is one of them!

Not seen many nice MK6 specials but that is definitely the worst, no wonder wedding cars get a bad rep amongst car folk with monstrosities like that and Beauford's plying their trade as wedding cars
