Door Panels

How do you remove the door panels on 1995 chimera,have the book on order,so far i have found the screw behind the ashtray.can anybody tell me where the others fasteners are located.

Remove speaker, then reach in and find the 3 (I think) nuts along the same line, between the carpeted bit and the leather covered 'handle' part. Once you've found one, the other two are in line with it - the far one is really hard to get at. Then the bottom of the door is loose and lifts off the window ledge at the top. The carpeted section is held on by 5-6 screws hidden in the carpet, around the edges.

This has been covered before so a search will probably reveal a more accurate descrption of this process.

You`ll need a tripple joint arm/hand to get to the far one, but is possible. Getting them back on is more interesting. Arm needs to go all the way down.

Something not mentioned so far, although its obvious once you start - the window must be all the way up!
I've managed to get the door panel off my Chimaera, it was quite a stretch to the back nut and I've quite long arms. You'll have to force almost all your whole arm inside the speaker aperture. Oh, and expect a few scratches too!

The nuts on those inaccessible bolts seem to have a habit of slackening themselves off, so it might be worth replacing them with wing nuts. At least it's then easy to tighten up two out of three in a 10 minute "speaker out" session.

When I took mine off I used a 1/2 inch drive socket (yes I meant 1/2 inch drive) no rachet, obviously. Much easier than using your fingers direct on the nut
