A rubbish day, I'm afraid, but fortunately no one hurt at all. The rest of the racers went ahead, all be it slightly shorter, I think. Not sure why TSL isn't showing results but racing was definitely taking place up to 1630 when I left.
The start line accident in the picture has been reviewed by the officials, including by all the video evidence made available to them and deemed to have been a racing incident with no one specifically to blame. Not much consolation to those whose cars were damaged, I'm afraid, and I am gutted for them.
To be fair, we really don't have many incidents at all over the course of a season, and have a good reputation for good driving standards, but one bad round has soured things. Where drivers have been deemed to have been at fault in the past, the club have acted, and drivers have been known to have had their continued membership revoked. The club do take a hard line and do take poor driving seriously. This time, the evidence was carefully reviewed and it was decided that no one should to be penalised. Still a rubbish day, though, and I am sure that there are several sides to the story.
Hopefully Snetterton will be better in a months time and hopefully, the drivers affected will be able to carry on in the future, but when you pay for your own racing , I'm sure it won't be soon. As I said, gutted for them.

No, the racing finished well before 6.30pm!! The "Magnificent Sevens" were held in the assembly area for quite a long time, and eventually it was announced to them that their race had been cancelled because the Armco barrier had been damaged in the previous race, and could not be repaired in time to allow them a race before the curfew at 6.30!!! So that was a rubbish day, even more rubbish than you originally thought!! In the second half of the "Tin Tops" race, I found myself to be totally on my own, with no car in sight, either in front or behind, and I'm talking in hundreds of yards, not 50 yards!! When I came over Deer Leap onto the start and finish straight, I was confronted with the "Stop/Go Penalty board"......... there was no number displayed, but there wasn't another car in sight, .... what would you have done in that circumstance???
...... sorry, I just noticed that you left at 16.30, not 6.30pm!!!

I suppose it's all a touch academic now, but TSL has qually results for the Future Classics but no race results, yet race results were issued at the circuit.
Obviously the race was abandoned for good reason , but out of interest, was it deemed a completed race or not ?
That race was a completed race - the sevens was not as it did not startObviously the race was abandoned for good reason , but out of interest, was it deemed a completed race or not ?

Can you send me a copy of that pic and can I use it on a video clip? I have in car footage of the accident and would like to put it in. Also have footage of me putting our MX5 into the tyres which I will post up when sorted.
Please let me know when the video goes up - I'd like to see it from another perspective.I have a video from on board our 944 S2 and a picture(we were collected by the crash)
I won't post them publically but happy to send you a dropbox link. Email me @ lukekarts@gmail.com if you want to see!

Here's the in-car footage of the crash from the Saxon Corrado (started in 7th):

Disappointed to see this classed as a racing incident, I think this was entirely avoidable and I hope the driver of the Black E46 M3 seriously considers whether they are up to the task before returning to the sharp end of the grid.
Spoiled a lot of people's day.

yep, just looked at that video and can't quite see which part of it I would consider a racing incident. I haven't raced with the CSCC for the last 3 years because of a "racing incident" which cost me a race win and meant my car needed jigging. far too many people on the grids that think rubbing is racing and far too many novices on the grid for a safe race.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZuS3oF6_qI&fe...

It's pretty obvious from the onboard video above that the black E46 speared sideways due to wheelspin (on an upshift I would imagine) rather than steering across so I would say its pretty clear that it was a racing incident. You can see the smoke from the tyres.
Whilst its disappointing for those with damaged cars the fingerpointing/witch hunt is a little unfair and people need to remember that these things can and do happen. If you are not prepared to walk away from your written off race car then you really shouldn't be racing it.

Dominic, the driver of the BMW, has won outright in Modern Classics this year - and so is a competent driver. Hard for anyone to "make assumptions" as to what has happened, but knowing Dominic as I do, he will be mortified & isn't deserving of some of the criticism flying around.
I've raced with the CSCC for the past 5 years - and also as an Insurer of many UK Series/Championships I get to know incidents levels of Series in the UK - its clear Oulton was a blip in their otherwise excellent driving standards. And particularly if you took the number of starters the CSCC now has and divide by the number of incidents - its one of the safest club's around. The number of novice drivers on the grid is not a factor - compared to many Series in the UK with more experienced runners - I can assure you. and I'm not sure we can compare AMOC meetings to CSCC (with 20-30 less cars in their races!).
I'm sure the CofC will sort at Snetterton and everyone will settle down again. Oulton was a bad weekend for the club (unfinished races/safety cars) - but it was very much a blip. But its now up to each club member to take responsibility for their own driving standards and ensure the season finishes with a flourish.

Small blip !!! Bloody hell tell that to the 3 smashed up cars caused by his poor driving !!! He spins up off the line but buy the time he turned into the 968 there is no way they were still spinning , speed is 70mph !!!
No way a m3 has that much power !! Video is pretty obvious what happened and you have to wonder what the race stewards would have said had they seen this vid on the day !!!
