7.1 GT3 Airbag Disable?

Hi All

Is there any modification I can get done so I can switch off my airbags? I'd like to be able to when doing trackdays, obviously they aren't needed when harnessed in with a helmet on but cost a fortune to fix if they go off.

No you can't do that easily.

If they go off on a track day it will be the least of your problems

You would have to unplug the module.

the system is powered directly from the ignition switch meaning that you cant just pull a fuse to kill it. if one wanted to disable however, you could put a toggle switch inline on the power feed to the module killing the whole system when switched one way, and leaving it as normal when switched the other.
a little bit more clever would be to make a small circuit with a switch that resets every time car was turned off. this would set airbag systems on by default every time the car was turned on. this would prevent it being left off accidentally and disabling would require a user activation every time..

both are well within the realms of a home DIYer.

be aware that there are seatbelt pretensioners in your car. disabling the airbag systems will also disable these though ofcourse you use harnesses hence the reason for wanting to disable airbags.
