Alvis by Cross & Eliss

Hi Folks,
I`m interested to know who/what was Cross & Eliss as regards Alvis ?
I`m looking at a 1937 Speed 25 Tourer by Cross & Eliss and wondered who they were ?
Any help would be appreciated...
