Hi all,

Just had a look at potentially my first Caterham - a 1.8 K series with 14000 miles on the clock. It all looked very clean and tidy but I have one area of slight concern that could just be me being overly critical. The coolant in the header tank wasn't 100% crystal clear. It looked just slightly hazy (only a bit). There was no debris of mayonnaise in it and no oil evidence on the surface of the coolant though. Also, the oil filler cap and what I could see into the engine wasn't milky at all either and the oil looked clean. Am I being overly concerned? The car has done about 1000 miles in the last two years. It started on the button and sounded good and drove well.

Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Lee

But that doesn't mean the head gasket hasn't blown! If it behaves as normal with regard to temps it's probably ok.

Thanks for the replies.
I am due to take it for a decent run this week (it was SORN) so will keep an eye on the water temp and oil pressure.
