Hey people,
I'm looking for some advice. I'm considering buying a 1st generation Ford KA registered in late 2002. It has relatively low mileage for an older car (around 60000 miles), has only had two owners, and seems in pretty good shape. It has been recently serviced and drives around well. I know KA's have a notoriety for severe rust but apart from the odd sign of it on the base or by the rear window-wiper it otherwise seems ok.
I'm a first time buyer and only looking for something cheap at the moment to get me on the and to hopefully contribute to a NC bonus. The car is being sold for 800 pounds and I can get insurance on it for little over 1000 (due to a monitoring black box). I was just wondering if going for this car for the time being is wise, or if I should look elsewhere?
Many thanks for your time.

Pretty good for a first car. I bought one as a first car just over a year ago and dont have any plans to sell it soon.
That year ka will have the earlier endura engine so apart from being a bit loud i doubt youll have any problems with the engine. Listen out for any knocking from the front wheels, if there is its probably the drop links. Cheap and easy fix.
Sign up to the ford ka owners club (fk-oc). Really helpful with any problems you might have

Had one of these as my second car and ran it for 9 almost entirely trouble free years. It was a 98 S Reg - needed very little maintenance other than an oil/ filter change every year. They're great fun to hurl about and handle much better than you'd think. Apart from rust, check the spark plugs have been regularly changed (every 12 months) as they have a habit of rusting into the engine block.
