After recently getting a wireless broadband network set up I have upgraded XP with service pack 2 but I am having difficulty getting any file sharing software to work well.

On another topic someone said it was possible to change some registry files to allow better downloading performance.

I have tried to google for some help with this but I haven't had any luck.

I'm running Areslite, shareaza and soulseek.

Soulseek seems to work fine but the others rarely work.

I initially set the windows firewall to on and then just added both programs to the exceptions list, I've also tried turning it off but I imagine it doesn't really turn completely off.

Any suggestions?

should I uninstall SP2 and get another firewall?

Is there a chance that uninstalling would cause any of my documents to disappear?

Al.
