Well after years of looking I went and bought myself a 4.5l Cerbera.

Typically I bought the car on Saturday and it overheated and broke down on the Sunday. The previous owner had had it stored for a while so the thermostat was seized. Luckily I joined the RAC the day before and saved myself £80 in fuel on the way home!

Anyway got a new thermostat and fitted it and still overheated. Checked it in a bucket of hot water and the new one didn't work!!!!!

Fitted second new thermostat and the car works fine, but just want to double check I've got it in the right way round - damn 3 way thermostats.

I've checked the workshop manual on the TVR site and it's not very clear. Does anybody have a diagram?

Also I took the advice on the oil pressure relief valve spring. The one in the car had broken and the end 2 coils had come off. Fitted new one and have seen pressure jump from 40psi to 70psi on cold idle!!!

Thanks in advance for any help

The pipe from the stat to the top of the rad is closed off when the engine is cold / warming up and opens when the water gets warm

Position the stat so it works like that

Thanks Ireland

That is how I've put it in, so you also have the pipe that runs across the chassis pulling water from the engine back to the water pump when cold. Didn't help that the new stat is slightly different to the old one.

Of to fix the exhaust today

Hi Byker, Having fun getting a picture on the forum, but think I've managed it.

Picture taking at the Gold Cup Weekend at Oulton Park

Thanks

Of all the places in the world to own a Cerbera, you've chosen the best place.

Thanks Mr Cerbera

It needs a bit of work but it will keep my out of mischief. Wife thinks it will be cheaper than another woman, I not so sure!

Thinking of a short induction kit so a trip to Joolz may be in order

Have fun
