I have had water in on the driver side recently and last week filled as many possible gaps as I could. Since the issue hasn't gone away, today I put the hose over it and discovered that the water seems to be coming through the deteriorated heat shield.

Is there any easy fix??

It's more likely to be coming through the brake master cylinder inspection cover, have you siliconed that up

Sorry, I have no idea and it looks like you've already tried throwing a tube of sealant at it.

Couldn't be coming in through the drivers mirror hole could it? hehe

Conceivably could be coming through the pop rivets that hold the heat shield on. Never heard of this though and would only be a small amount.

Sorry to harp on - have you physically removed the clutch cover and resealed it yourself. It is the most likely culprit

Had the hose on the heat shield and could see water coming in.

The clutch cover is OK. I resealed it last week

May be the body has a crack in it behind the heat shield, Has the engine or body been removed? as it may have received a clout on fitting/removing. If you are sure its coming from behind the shield then remove the shield and get a repair done or D.I.Y as it hasn't got o look perfect as the shield will be covering it.

Yes wiper spindles and water jets caused mine. Get some Dr Tolleys that will fix it.
