Can anybody help / recommend Weber Marelli P8 ECU Specialists ?

I have a 1991 Virage which uses 2 Weber Marelli P8 ECUs (Slave (left) and Master (right)) car runs really nice however, I have 3 fault codes on the slave ECU only 1.1 Crank/rpm sensor, 1.2 cam position sensor and 1.3 cam/crank phase.

Compared the sensors output, gaps and resistance with the none fault reporting side and can not see any significant difference.

Any ideas most welcome

Can the master and slave be swapped without doing damage to see if the fault codes move with the ECU or stay with the sensors ?

Best asking AMOC. Lots of experts on the older cars there - PH is much better for the Gaydon cars.

Neil,

Thanks for the response, those on the AMOC site are very helpful when they can.

However, specialist / hands on experience advice is limited with respect to the Virage's Weber Marelli P8 ECU detailed design implementation.

I'm learning fast, but still need some help.

Cheers

If you plug in to the diagnostics socket, you should be able to view the live data as the motor is running, this will certainly see what output the rpm sensor is showing.

You should also delete all the codes and see if they return as it could be a spurious or very intermittant fault.

I would be more likely to swap the sensors if thats possible. All codes indicate a cam position sensor fault and a circuit tester would not be sufficient if the fault is intermittant or affected by pulsing.
