Hey

I just picked up a E34 3.8 LE M5 yesterday and after 600 miles its making a disconcerning noise that I can't diagnose so I am wondering if anyone knows of a specialist who knows their way around these cars in Glasgow?

cant vouch for the BMW arm of them, but I use A for Audi in Clydebank, they also run B for BMW as well, I have found the Audi side of things very good, maybe worth a call at least?

This is where I've taken it in the mean time because I really didn't want to drive it far (0.5 miles away from me) but I think I'll give deadslow's guy a go if it needs anything else done I can't do myself.

As a matter of interest, where is the noise coming from? Diff, engine, steering, suspension...

Hope you get it sorted soon

Right after taking the car to the Ibrox Independent, I took it to George Morrison Motors where they have been having problems as their building is aparently falling down so after a week of it being there that have not had the chance to properly have a look at it. Does anyone know of another specialist around who could have a look at it? From what I've seen and heard, garages that deal with newer cars cannot cope with an E34 M5.

Ive taken the car to two different specialists and neither have been able to do anything with the car. Aparently the small end has gone meaning a pretty hefty job needs to be done to replace it so does anyone know anywhere around Glasgow that a job like that could be carried out? I'm struggling to find anywhere just now.

BM Motors in Law (Wishaw) might be worth a call (01698 375146). I've never used them, but always heard very good reports.

BM Motors is currently shut I believe while he builds a new garage.
Gary Morgan (above) and the guys in the Scottish BMW club are currently raving about Owen Ferry in Paisley.
Good prices and knowledge on the cars.

I'll also give a vote for Owen Ferry - I originally met him when he was working (manager, I believe) years ago for George Morrisson. A very decent chap.

My son has an E46 330cd and was having major lack of boost problem. Took it to a few local garages who were either disintersted or could not find the problem.

Took it to Owen ferry and within a week found the problem and sorted it within 5 days. He kept the car for two days after finding the fault just to make sure the problem was cured.

Can't recommend him enough
